It is important, on all projects, to ensure that the Tenderers’ include a Trade Cost Summary in their tender – no matter how small the project!
This makes it easier for tenders to be reviewed and compared fairly and to find any discrepancies – giving you a better chance to appoint the right builder.
And to help with consistency, include the form for the Trade Cost Summary in your documents, and:
- Endeavour to have the trade list match your specification,
- Keep GST separate,
- Make sure Prime Cost and Provisional allowances are clear and unambiguous,
- Ensure that cost options (as either additions or deductions) are clear and unambiguous,
- Check that the trade costs total to the actual tendered figure.
